About Kim Schisler Sosebee

Kimberly Schisler Sosebee’s time in Germany as a working student for Wolfram Wittig, coach of six-time World Champion Isabell Werth, was time that defined and shaped Kim as a dressage rider, trainer, and coach. Being surrounded by the best dressage riders and trainers in the world was an opportunity of a lifetime following many years training as a three-day event rider with top Olympians from the United States and Canada.

In Germany, Kimberly Schisler Sosebee was given the opportunity to ride young horses just starting under saddle to Grand Prix horses competing Internationally. Upon Kim’s return to the States, she spent a winter in Palm Beach, Florida training with USDF Gold medalist Alison Sader-Larson, then another winter in South Florida training with USA Olympian Courtney King-Dye.

In November of 2008, Kimberly Schisler Sosebee was back in south Florida as a working student for Danish Olympian and five-time Danish National Champion, Lars Petersen. In 2009, while still in training with Lars Petersen, Kim was given an opportunity to travel to USA Olympian Steffen Peters’ farm in California to ride Duvallier, a Grand Prix horse owned by Collecting Gaits Farm. Jeff and Shereen Fuqua, owners of Collecting Gaits Farm, offered for Kim to bring Duvallier to Florida to compete. Kim and Duvallier qualified for the 2009 Festival of Champions in Gladstone, New Jersey where they finished third in the “Brentina Cup” Young Adult National Grand Prix Championship.

During this time Kim rode in clinics with German Olympic Champion Hubertus Schmidt, as well as, Henk van Bergen and Conrad Schumacher.

With more than twenty-five years of riding experience, Kimberly Schisler Sosebee credits her background in three-day eventing as the foundation of her training philosophy. Kim trained with two-time USA Olympian (Three Day Eventing)  Julie Burns Richards for five years.  Kim also trained with Canadian Olympian (Three-Day Eventing) Stuart Young-Black as a working student in Virginia during the summers. Kimberly Schisler Sosebee passed the “A rating” in the United States Pony Club and also worked as an exercise rider at Chabboquasset Farm, a Thoroughbred racehorse training facility, before starting college. She graduated Cum Laude with a business management degree from the University of Georgia in May of 2003 after having spent a summer studying International Business at Oxford (England).

Kimberly Schisler Sosebee has a passion for building relationships; “The relationship between a horse and his/her rider can be a beautiful thing when the communication between the two is clear, concise and built on mutual respect.”  Having trained with many World Class dressage and three-day eventing trainers in the United States and Europe, Kim believes that the relationship between trainer and student should also reflect that same level of mutual respect as that of the horse and rider relationship. A relaxed environment that facilitates learning is of utmost importance.  Kim enjoys sharing all that she has learned with her Still Waters Dressage clients; her goal is to help her students reach their goals and achieve their dreams!
